God Can Use You

When you study the life of Andrew, you will find that he falls into the class of ordinary. Andrew preached no great sermons, performed no miracles, and wrote no books. Andrew was like most of us; we're not at the top and we're not on the bottom, simply stuck somewhere in the middle. But the thing that is worthy of our attention is the fact that while Andrew was ordinary, he was usable.

Andrew was usable because of his motivation. "He first findeth his own brother" (John 1:41). Andrew delighted in finding people that needed to come into contact with Jesus. Please, note the word "first." This reveals that while Peter would be his first, he would not be his last! The truth is, most of us aren't finding people because we aren't looking.

Andrew was usable because of his message. "We have found... the Christ" (John 1:41). Andrew had found the One of Whom the Bible spoke, and Andrew would speak of Him.

Andrew was usable because of his mission. "And he brought him to Jesus" (John 1:42). While Andrew could see the need, only Jesus could meet the need. Much like the four men in Luke 5, whose friends was taken with palsy, if anyone is going to get the help they need, we must do whatever it takes to get them to Jesus.

The songwriter was right when he wrote, "People need the Lord," Like we would get air to someone who was drowning, so we must get Jesus to those who are dying! You, like Andrew, may not have a list of great attributes or abilities; but God can use you if you have the right motive, message, and mission.
